Ukraine: September barley exports rise by 1% only
In September, 2008, Ukraine exported 977,700 tonnes of barley - an increase of 1% only compared to the previous month, IA APK-Inform cited customs data on October, 9.
According to reports, Saudi Arabia (363,600 tonnes), Iran (225,700 tonnes) and Syria (154,000 tonnes) were the main importers of Ukrainian barley in September.
The government of the Ukraine (GOU) signed Decree # 825 dated September 10, which gives the GOU the right to control wheat, barley and corn prices on the market. This decree doesn’t establish the level of the price but it could be done by another decree at any moment, if the GOU decides that the current market price is too low.
