Black Sea region: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan are largest feed barley exporters this campaign
Black Sea countries have been the major exporters of feed barley in the present campaign, industry observers communicated at the end of April.
Ukraine shipped 5.033 mln tons till end March (last year 5.565), Russia - 1.928 (1.812), Kazakhstan 0.228 (0.218), it is reported.
According to industry sources, present price levels for old crop barley are around US$ 145,- FOB seaport for large vessels, new crop is quoted US$ 135,- and is called bearish.
Crop forecasts are surprisingly large, because reports stress winter damages, late spring planting reducing yields and seeded hectares, less fertilizer use, weeds, rodent and insects. Nevertheless overall prospects are still called good.
