The Dominican Republic: Dominican brewer looking to supply malting barley from the US
Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana (CND) Brewery from the Dominican Republic is looking to set up a malting barley production contract with US producers to help manage its production costs as global malt supplies tighten, Agra-net.com reported on June, 18.
CND currently uses 2 million metric tons (1.8 million bushels) of malting barley annually, primarily from the US, and has expressed an interest in contracting 20-40% of their malting barley needs with US producers, the US Grain Council reported in its Global Update.
As a result, the Grain Council invited CND to hold discussions with Montana and North Dakota barley farmers, it is reported.
