United Kingdom: Winter and spring barley yields below average this year
The harvest of winter barley is complete in the UK and the yields reported are below average at 6.2 – 6.4 t/ha, ADAS communicated on August, 26.
Just under 35% of UK’s spring barley area is harvested to date, with 40% of England and Wales area and 25% of Scottish area harvested.
Yields are currently below the UK 5 year average (5.4 t/ha). Quality remains good with high specific weights and good grain nitrogen levels, it is reported.
