Russia: Grain harvest update as of September, 29
According to official data of the federal subjects of the Russian Federation, as of September 29, 2010, Russia harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of 31 mln ha, or 87% of the forecasted areas, taking into account the losses of grain sowings due to the droughts, AgriMarket.Info reported on September, 30.
The general grain production volumes totaled 59 mln tonnes. The average grain yield totaled 19 c/ha, announced the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Russia lowered barley production from 17.7 mln tonnes to the level of 8 mln tonnes. The average yield of barley totaled 17.5 c/ha.
As of September 29, 2010, Russian agrarians sowed winter crops throughout 10 mln ha.
According to data of experts, agricultural crops perished throughout the areas of over 13.2 mln ha, which totaled 29% from the general agricultural crops sowings in the damaged regions, or 30% of the general sowing areas of grains in the Russian Federation.
