USA, OK & KS: Mustang Brewing Co’s beers available in Kansas
Brewery news

Thanks to a new state law that took effect on July, 1 Wichita beer lovers can sample craft beer from Mustang Brewing Co. of Oklahoma City, Wichita Business Journal reported on July, 24.

Mustang recently branched into Kansas, its second state outside Oklahoma, and will publicly introduce its brand via free samplings at two area liquor stores.

Mustang’s beers are developed at its headquarters and pilot brewing facility in Oklahoma City, then brewed and packaged at four different breweries with which it contracts, depending on the recipe and order size. Two of those breweries are in Oklahoma, with one each in Wisconsin and Tennessee. Those breweries have to meet strict Mustang criteria, the company says.

Mustang goes so far as to adjust the mineral content at each brewery to match the water source at Mustang’s pilot plant in Oklahoma, it says.

Mustang has four year-round selections, including Golden Ale, Route 66 American Lager, Mustang ’33 and Washita Wheat.

“Because our business model differs from other local craft beers, we can meet increased demand with no wasted dollars on excess inventory,” Tim Schoelen, founder, owner and managing partner, says.

“After beginning this company in the garage of our rental house three years ago, it’s a huge accomplishment to announce we’re expanding into our third state,” Schoelen says.
