France: Hops crop expected to be better than last year
After a good crop in 2011, France’s hop producers are expected report an even better hop crop this year, Lalsace.fr posted on September, 7.
“The weather was very favourable this summer. We expect alpha acid rates similar to last year’s and even higher yields,” Francis Heitz of Comptoir agricole de Hochfelden (CAH).
The variety Strisselspalt accounts for sixty percent of hops grown in Alsace, the main hop producing region in France.
However, hop prices declined by 30% in 2007-2010 to a historic low, it is reported.
