Russia: Total winter crop plantings decline this year
According to preliminary estimates, Russia’s 2013 winter grain crop may total 38.6 mln metric tons, with forecast yield of 2.7 t/ha (average in the past five years), UkrAgroConsult reported last week, citing Russian Deputy Premier Arkadiy Dvorkovich.
As of mid-December, winter grains in Russia had been planted on 15.7 mln ha (16.3 mln ha in 2011), including 13 mln ha of winter wheat, 2 mln ha of winter rye, 0.4 mln ha of winter barley, and 0.3 mln ha of triticale.
Altogether, winter crop plantings for the 2013 harvest total 16.2 mln ha (16.8 mln ha in 2011).
