UK: Malting barley approved lists updated

The suitability of malting barley varieties for brewing, malt distilling and grain distilling has been discussed at the spring meeting of the Malting Barley Committee, as reported by HGCA.

Moonshine and Odyssey have been promoted to Full Approval for malt distilling use and Venture to Full Approval for brewing use.

Odyssey, Archer and Overture have been moved to Provisional Approval 2 for brewing use and Overture also has Provisional Approval 2 for malt distilling.

The winter variety Talisman (for brewing use) and the spring varieties Sanette (for brewing use) and Glassel (for malt distilling) have been granted Provisional Approval 1 and added to the Approved List.

Chronicle, Shuffle, Quench and Winsome have been removed from the Approved List and Optic has been removed for brewing use.
