USA, NE: Storz Brewing Company to perform its come back in the beer market
Brewery news

A new incarnation of the Storz Brewing Company will be bringing the iconic name back to Omaha and Nebraska, Fremont Tribune reported on August, 9.

The company, which incorporated in May, announced Thursday, August 8 that it will take over the lease of vacant Rick’s Cafe Boatyard at 345 Riverfront Drive, Omaha, Nebraska.

Storz will renovate the 19,000-square-foot bar and restaurant and rename it the Storz Trophy Room Grill & Brewery. The restaurant will open Nov. 15 and be operated by Yves Menard, who owns Charlie’s on the Lake restaurant.

The company will also work with a Nebraska craft brewer to bring back Storz brand beers, which will be available exclusively throughout Nebraska under an agreement with five Anheuser Busch distributors. The company’s management team consists of John Markel, the great-great-grandson of Storz founder, Gottlieb Storz, and his cousin, Tom Markel.

Gottlieb Storz started brewing beer in Omaha in 1876, and the company grew to be the largest brewery in Nebraska. It closed in 1972.

Storz will introduce its lager, wheat, pale ale and amber ale products in a few weeks. The company plans to produce 160,000 cases in its first year of operation.

Storz products will launch Aug. 18 at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Polish Festival.
