World: HGCA provides update on barley harvest progress in the Northern Hemisphere

HGCA posted on September 3 an update on the harvest progress in the Northern Hemisphere.

As at 8 September 2013, 89% of barley was harvested in the US.

In France, soft wheat and spring barley harvest was complete by August 26.

In the UK, as at 3 September, the harvest of sinter barley area was complete and 70% of spring barley area was complete

In Canada, the state of Alberta as at August 27 harvested 14.4% of its barley area.

As at August 8, winter barley harvest was almost complete in the Czech Republic with a small improvement in yields compared to the five year average; 25% of spring barley had been harvested.

As at August 5, Spain harvested 90% of total barley area.
