Belgium: Second-largest brewer Alken-Maes to increase prices as from February
Belgium’s second-largest beer maker, Alken-Maes, has announced a decision to increase the prices of its products as from February 15. The increase will amount to 1.5 eurocents per glass of its standard beers and a little more for its specialty beers, L’avenir.net reported on November 28.
The industry leader, AB InBev, made a similar announcement earlier this month.
Alken-Maes, the most popular brands of which include Cristal, Maes, Grimbergen, and Affligem, justifies the price hike by willingness to continue investing in innovations and in the HoReCa sector.
For specialty beers, the average price increase per glass will be less than 2 eurocents, the company said.
