France: Malting barley markets very calm, prices higher because of lack of precipitations
France’s malting barley markets are very calm. Traders and buyers are waiting for news on the Ukraine crisis, weather, and other factors, before making any offers or commitments, La Depeche reported on April 22.
A certain firmness can be noted for new crop spring barley, which, in turn, provides a boost to the old crop prices. The increase is a consequence of the actual weather conditions, which is judged too dry and could affect the spring plantings, industry sources said.
