USA, CA: Stone Brewing delays decision on new brewery

The Escondido, California-based Stone Brewing in August narrowed its list of finalists to Columbus and two other cities for the $60 mln expansion project, and said a decision could come within 60 days, bizjournals.com reported on September, 11.

Now, 27 days later, the company is backing off that timeline.

“While we were hoping to announce our decision by the end of the summer, it seems that the process will take a bit longer,” spokeswoman Sabrina LoPiccolo said. “As you can imagine, there are a lot of moving parts and we are working diligently towards a conclusion. We do not have a specific date as to when our decision will be made.”

She declined to provide any additional details, but said the company is working on a decision “as expeditiously as possible.”

The hotly contested project is for Stone’s first brewery east of the Mississippi River. Plans also include a restaurant, retail store and an outdoor beer garden.
