UK: Molson Coors completes distribution takeover of Staropramen beer from Carlsberg

The UK division of Molson Coors has completed the distribution takeover of its Staropramen brand in the country from Carlsberg.

The move, which was initially announced in June, is a result of the early termination of Staropramen's distribution arrangement between the two brewers. Carlsberg had handled the lager in the UK since 2011, a spokesperson for Molson Coors confirmed on January 5.

According to the MD of Molson Coors UK & Ireland, Frederic Landtmeters, the brand's arrival represents a "significant and exciting milestone" for the unit.

Staropramen joins Grolsch, Cobra and Singha in the unit's 'world beer' portfolio.

Molson Coors acquired the former owner of Staropramen, StarBev, in 2012.
