USA, OH: MadTree Brewing Co. to build a second brewery in Cincinnati
MadTree Brewing Co. announced on January 6 that it will build a new $18 million brewery, tasting room and events center in Cincinnati's Oakley neighborhood.
The brewery hopes to open its new facility later this year. It will feature a 100-barrel brewhouse, outdoor beer garden and a taproom with 64 taps. The new site is about a mile away from its current location.
“It was extremely important for us to remain connected to the city and neighborhoods that have supported us since day one,” MadTree co-founder Kenny McNutt said in a news release. "This is where we all live, work, and play, and we didn’t want to abandon our home to save a few pennies. This expansion wouldn’t be possible without the support of our loyal customers, the City of Cincinnati, and JobsOhio."
The brewery expects to expand its distribution footprint in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana thanks to the increased production.
Founded by McNutt, Brady Duncan and Jeff Hunt, MadTree opened in early 2013 and became the first modern craft brewery in Ohio to can its beer. Its brands include PsycHOPathy, Gnarly Brown and Axis Mundi.
MadTree is the latest in a string of major expansions announced for the Cincinnati market. Rhinegeist Brewery recently underwent a $10 million expansion, while Fifty West Brewing Co. announced a $1.5 million upgrade. Meanwhile, Rivertown Brewery and Barrel House is opening a new $2.7 million facility in Monroe.
