Canada, ON: Lake of the Woods Brewing Co. gets federal assistance for expansion
A craft brewery on the western reaches of Ontario is getting federal assistance to help it snatch a larger share of the booming market for independent brews, CanadianManufacturing.com reported on March 9.
Lake of the Woods Brewing Co., which pours a range of beers—from its Papermaker Pilser, to its forests of Northern Ontario-inspired Sasquatch Black Lager—will receive C$149,319 from the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
“Thanks to the Government of Canada’s investment in our production line, we will be able to offer our distinctive and flagship beers in smaller formats that are better suited for distribution,” Taras Manzie, the suds maker’s president and CEO said. “We look forward to strengthening our company’s position in the market and expanding our loyal customer base.”
Designed to spur growth in the small city on the Manitoba border, the company will use the investment to buy larger fermentation tanks and canning equipment that will allow it to scale up.
The company’s beer is currently available throughout Ontario and Manitoba.
