Burkina Faso: Beer taxes up 5% to 30%

Excise duty on beer in Burkina Faso has been increased from 25% to 30%, Agence Ecofin reported on August 6.

Taxes on other alcoholic beverages were increased in April and beer was exempt from the increase at that time.

The country’s government said it does not expect the tax increase to result in higher selling prices for consumers but admits no negotiations with local brewers have been conducted on this matter.
