USA, CA: Mraz Brewing Co. halts plans on opening new location in Folsom
El Dorado Hills-based Mraz Brewing Co. has halted its plan to open a location in Folsom, the Sacramento Business Journal reported on September 20.
This past spring, the brewery confirmed plans to fill an anchor spot in a new brewhouse-centered project at 13407 Folsom Blvd. It would have been the second location for Mraz, which opened in El Dorado Hills in 2013.
But in a Facebook post on September 20, the brewer said the plan for the Folsom location won't go forward. "We love Folsom and its residents, but determined that a location of that size is just not where our hearts are at," the Facebook post says.
The Folsom site would have been significantly larger than the brewer's current 1,000-square-foot location on Francisco Drive in El Dorado Hills. It was expected to have a full kitchen and cover 5,000 square feet, plus a 4,000-square-foot outdoor area.
"Although an amazing opportunity for the right brewery, the large location in Folsom unfortunately does not fit our ever-evolving vision for the future of Mraz Brewing Company," the Facebook post says.
Instead of expanding to Folsom, brewer and owner Mike Mraz expects to focus on the brewery's existing operations, including releasing four-pack cans of some of its most popular beers, according to the Facebook post.
"We are working on moving our brewing equipment to our production and storage facility and eventually turning it into a traditional industrial tap room as well. We hope to have this underway in early 2017," the Facebook post says.
