Canada, ON: Haliburton Highlands Brewing to open its newly expanded brewery
Haliburton Highlands Brewing has announced that it will be opening its newly expanded brewery this weekend at Abbey Gardens, a local and sustainable food hub located just outside of Haliburton.
The new 4,500 square foot location represents a 15 times capacity expansion over the pilot project brewery that Haliburton Highlands has been operating at Abbey Gardens since 2014. It will also continue to meet the mandate of economic development and sustainability that both organizations follow, as described in the announcement:
The facility was built by Abbey Gardens and incorporates a number of innovations that enable the brewery to minimize its water and energy footprint. The building is heated with a biomass boiler from BioThermic and all lighting in the brewery is high efficiency. Brewing is a water intensive process and the building has been designed to minimize waste water production and enable a future project to process the grey water for re-use in irrigation, cleaning and other non-brewing uses. Spent grain will continue to be composted on site and made available to local farmers like Hunter Creek Farms.
The grand opening for the new Haliburton Highlands brewery will take place Saturday October 22nd as part of the Abbey Gardens Fall Festival.
