USA: Beer sales up 0.3% last year, imports account for 18.9% of total sales

U.S. beer sales in 2016 were 207.3 mln hl, up 0.3% from the previous year, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in March.

Beer imports were 39.2 mln hl, up 6.8%, for a market share of 18.9%. Imports from Mexico alone were 25.8 mln hl, 13.8% of the total U.S. beer sales.

Craft beer is estimated to have sold 30.2 mln hl, up 7%, for a market share of 14.6%, the analysts said.
