USA, NY: Boots Brewing Company has the go-ahead to open up in Watertown
After cutting through the redtape, Boots Brewing Company has the official go-ahead from city of Watertown officials to open up on Public Square, InformNNY.com reported on April 4.
Dan Daugherty, a firefighter in the city, has been wanting to open his brewery in the Lincoln Building, but an old law prevented beer from being brewed in that location of Watertown.
Previously, the city's Planning Board amended the law, and after a public comments session, council unanimously approved the change.
Daughtery told the Watertown Daily Times that he hopes to open Boots Brewing Company on the Square at some point this summer.
While brewers can set up shop in downtown, the tweaked law is much stricter than state law when it comes to how much beer can be made.
