Of beer, an enthusiast has said that it could never be bad, but that some brands might be better than others.

Canada, NL: Two new craft breweries launching soon in Newfoundland
Brewery news

According to reports in the Western Star and Southern Gazette, two communities in Newfoundland will soon have their own craft breweries.

In the town of Burin on the Burin Peninsula on Newfoundland’s south coast, partners Jennie O’Keefe and Chris Johnson are establishing Rough Waters Brewing, with an aim to be open in time for Victoria Day next year.

Set to be located next door to Smugglers Cove Roadhouse, where owner Mike Brennan is planning on having Rough Waters as the exclusive draught beer supplier once it opens, the brewery will offer four core brands – including “a wheat beer, a blonde beer and a porter,” plus one TBC – as well as a variety of seasonal beers.

Over on the western side of the island, an environment assessment is underway at 53-55 West St. in Corner Brook where building owner Major’s Logging Ltd. is looking to open Boomstick Brewing.

Planned to include a brewhouse, taproom, growler station, and retail store, Boomstick will occupy 7,000 square feet of the building, with the remainder to become a boutique hotel. No timeline for either establishment has been announced.
