Canada, MB: Stone Angel Brewing opens its doors in Winnipeg
Last weekend saw the opening of Winnipeg’s newest brewery and taproom. Opening at 1875 Pembina in the south of the city, Stone Angel Brewing is a dedicated brewery with a large and spacious taproom. The company has been brewing for several weeks and has two new beers on tap for the public, Brewbound reported on October 4.
“The taproom experience is essentially a tasting room for the brewery” explains Paul Clerkin, one of the three partners, “it’s where customers can come, have a couple of pints of our regular beers and try out any new or small batch beers that we have produced.”
“We’re opening with two different beers, an Irish Red Ale, and a English Dark Mild” added James deFehr. “Both are designed to be easy drinking and an introduction to craft beers for the non-craft beer drinker.”
Stone Angel Brewing was formed by three partners last year and has recently finished construction of their 8,650 sq.ft. facility. “At the moment, we are just kegging our beer for growler fills and for bars, eventually we will be opening a canning line” said Paul McMullan, President and Chief Operating Officer. “We are currently introducing Winnipeg bars and restaurants to our beers and hope to see them in other establishments soon.”
The taproom and brewery are sited in what was formerly a night club, and has a large west facing patio and substantial parking. The taproom will be open regularly Wednesday – Sunday, and the unique facility will also be available for events.
