USA, NC: Vicious Fishes Brewery to open second location in Apex
Vicious Fishes Brewery just opened in August but already has plans to expand. The brewery announced it will open a second location in Apex, the News & Observer reported on October 20.
Vicious Fishes Brewery opened in Angier in Harnett County in the former White Rabbit Brewing Co. The second taphouse will be in southern Apex, near where U.S. 1 and N.C. 540 intersect.
“We just closed on a location just a few miles from downtown in a very rapidly growing area of west Apex,” the brewery wrote on its Facebook page Thursday afternoon.
The announcement didn’t say when the new brewery will open, except that it’s “coming soon.”
In its first few months in existence – on an appropriately named road called Fish Drive – Vicious Fishes has embraced creative ways of grabbing people’s interest.
When it first opened, they brewed an IPA called PiranhaCopter, and the bartenders delivered pints of it to people at the brewery by way of a quadcopter drone.
It will be the third craft brewery in Apex, along with Brueprint Brewing Co. and Southern Peak Brewery.
The new bar will be at 2237 Old U.S. 1, about a mile from the new Apex Friendship High School and in the middle of a formerly rural area that’s rapidly developing.
A number of new housing developments have been built nearby in recent years, with more on the way. The town also plans to build a large 92-acre park just down the street, in hopes of attracting plenty of weekend visitors with youth sports tournaments.
The owners said they’re excited to be part of the area’s growth.
The town’s plan for the area, they wrote, “will feature restaurants, grocery and similar amenities meant to serve the thousands of newly built homes in the immediate surroundings.”
The current location is at 219 Fish Drive, Angier.
