Mexico: Grupo Modelo to start exporting beer brewed at its Yucatan facility
Grupo Modelo’s Hunucmá plant in Yucatan will begin its beer exports to Europe and Africa in the second half of November, The Yucatan Times reported on October 30.
The Secretary of Economic Development of the State (Sefoe), Ernesto Herrera Novelo, the company’s exports will be shipped to European and African countries, as well as to the United States market.
“Grupo Modelo will send six thousand containers of the Corona, Modelo, Victoria, León and Montejo brands to the international market. The beer in question is produced at Modelo’s Hunucma plant, which currently brews seven million hectolitres, but will reach 15 million hectolitres per year in the medium term,” he said.
“The industrial plant of the Modelo plans to reach a production of 1.9 billion bottles of beer per year, of which 14% will be exported to Canada, Colombia, Guatemala, Belize, Chile, the United Kingdom and Belgium.”
