USA, OR: Salem's first Latin American brewery Xicha Brewing now open
Xicha Brewing, Salem's first Latin American brewery, has opened on Patterson Street in West Salem, the Statesman Journal reported on November 3.
After announcing the brewery's plan to open earlier this year, co-owner Ben Mendoza had to overcome a few hurdles, including a surprise lead dust problem that halted construction.
Now, the brewery has opened with tacos, beer and lots of color.
The brewery has six taps open, serving five house beers, a collaboration with a McMinnville brewery and one rotating cider.
Brewer and co-owner Matt Dakopolos is pouring a citrus-forward IPA, a porter and a pale-ale that he brewed on site. In addition, Dakopolos brewed a Czech dark lager with McMinnville brewery Grain Station Brew Works as well as a fresh hop beer made with wild hops from Osprey Farm. The brewery also offers a dry-hopped pale ale with Amarillo hops.
