USA, CA: Ol’ Republic Brewery to open new brewery and taproom in Rancho Cordova
Ol’ Republic Brewery has already signed a lease, and will open a brewery and taproom in March of this year in the City of Rancho Cordova, Brewbound reported on January 27.
Ol’ Republic, celebrating its seventh year in business this February, acquired the brewing facility and taproom at 11151 Trade Center Drive, steps away from Hwy 50 and the Sunrise Blvd. Light Rail Station. The location is an excellent hub facility to service the greater Sacramento area, and part of the growing Barrel District in Rancho Cordova. The Barrel District is already home to six breweries and distilleries, with another four set to open this year.
“Self-distributing from here [Rancho Cordova] means we can deliver quickly and efficiently to any account in the area,” said Simon Olney, co-founder. “The current twice-a-week delivery schedule from Nevada City is limiting us in Sacramento.”
Ol’ Republic is a multiple award-winning brewery. “Big Mike” Moore, who heads up the California State Fair commercial beer competition, has been witness to many of these awards.
“These two hard working ‘best friends’ make some of the best lagers in the State of California,” said Moore. “They have won numerous awards for their beers including ‘Best of Show’ for Dead Canary, a German Dortmund-style lager. But don’t count them out when it comes to hoppy IPA’s with hits like Clouds of Jupiter and other celestial hoppy beers. Now you don’t have to take a trip to Nevada City to have deliciously fresh lagers and ales!”
There are now 80 breweries just in the Greater Sacramento area, and the Sacramento Craft beer scene continues to gain momentum.
“The craft brewing industry in California continues to grow and thrive. Despite a few closures in the last year, there have been many craft breweries that have expanded and added new locations. It will be exciting to have a ‘taste of the Gold Country’ in Sacramento with the opening of the new Ol’ Republic Brewing location in Rancho Cordova,” said Tom McCormick, executive director of the California Craft Brewers Association.
Curt Haven, Director of Economic Development for the City of Rancho Cordova can’t believe his luck.
“To have a brewery of this caliber come to our city and want to be actively involved in our new Barrel District tells us we are doing all of the right things to support businesses and encourage breweries to establish themselves in Rancho Cordova,” said Haven.
“We’ve been looking for a Sacramento location for many years,” co-founder Jim Harte said. “We consider ourselves lucky to be part of a city and community that has already been so welcoming.” “What a breath of fresh air, the city has been fantastic!” said Dennis Yadroff, Ol’ Republic’s Director of Retail and Communications.
