Of beer, an enthusiast has said that it could never be bad, but that some brands might be better than others.

USA, CA: San Francisco Brewing Co. to launch its highly anticipated brewery and restaurant this month
Brewery news

Located in San Francisco’s historic Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco Brewing Co. is pleased to announce that it will open the doors to its highly anticipated brewery and restaurant in April. The family owned operation will be open for dinner to start, followed by lunch, brunch, and brewery tours shortly thereafter. Founder Josh Leavy, along with his wife Jennifer and brother Aaron are thrilled to be opening in one of San Francisco’s most vibrant urban destinations, Brewbound reported on April 2.

“We’re incredibly excited to finally be getting ready to open the doors to our new brewery and restaurant,” says Josh. “We hope that people will continue to enjoy the beers they’ve come to know from our taps at various restaurants and bars around the Bay Area, now with their own home and brewed onsite alongside delicious food.”

Brewing has been a part of the Leavy family for almost a century, beginning with Josh and Aaron’s great grandfather, Mr. Miguel Gonzalez, who formed the first industrial brewery, Mexicali Brewery, in Baja, California in 1923. Although Josh’s fascination with brewing beer began with his ancestors, his passion started in college after spending time at a local brewery doing research for a class project. Josh fell in love with the camaraderie that comes along with brewing. When Jennifer and Aaron joined the team, San Francisco Brewing Co. became both a family affair and a labor of love.

With the new brewery, the Leavys are excited to welcome a new member of their beer family, Head Brewmaster Justin Boehle. Boehle will help the family bring manufacturing back to the square by brewing their already popular Bay Area beers onsite in the historic Cocoa Building.

Boehle joins the team with over a decade of experience brewing for Gordon Biersch and will maintain the high quality standards the Bay Area has come to expect from San Francisco Brewing Co. since 2012. He will continue to work hand-in-hand with Josh on small-batch experimental brewing that has brought seasonal favorites such as Sunset Saison and La Mission Mexican lager to the portfolio.

The innovative brews, meant to foster community, celebration, and local artistry, will be available from San Francisco’s first self-serve beer wall powered by Table Tap. Using prepaid RFID cards, the company’s WallTender™ self-pour technology empowers guests to sample beer by the ounce until they find their perfect pint.

To start, SF Brewing Co. will be open Sunday-Thursday from 4:30-10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4:30-11:00 p.m., Lunch, Brunch and brewery tours will begin shortly thereafter in early spring 2018.

San Francisco Brewing Co. is located in Ghirardelli Square at 3150 Polk Street (between Beach and North Point Street) and will be open Sun-Thurs 4:30-10pm, Friday-Saturday 4:30pm-11pm, Lunch, Brunch and brewery tours will begin shortly thereafter in early spring 2018.
