Canada, BC: Callister Brewing announces plans to close down
The longest-running partner brewery at Vancouver’s Callister Brewing has announced that it is ending its run and closing down, the Canadian Beer News reported on July 3.
Real Cask Brewing – a project from brewer Adam Chatburn focussed on cask-conditioned ales – was one of the original trio of co-brewers at Callister when the co-op-modelled brewery launched in 2015, and has remained for three year-long terms while the other two slots have rotated annually.
In an article written for the latest issue of What’s Brewing Magazine, Chatburn says that while he enjoyed his time working on Real Cask, he feels that it’s “time to move on and let someone else use Callister as a launching pad for their brewing dreams,” and that he is “considering a little break from the BC craft beer community” before deciding on his next move.
A closing party for Real Cask will be taking place at Callister on Sunday July 8th starting at 1:00 PM.
The end of Real Cask follows the recent shutdown of Callister’s two 2017-18 partners, MorningStar Brewing and Night Owl Brewing. New partner brewers for 2018-19 are expected to be announced soon.
