USA & Germany: January-May beer sales drop in the US but increase in Germany
The USA saw domestic beer sales decline by 6.4% in May, January-May shipments dropped 3.5% to 67.783 mln barrels, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their July report.
Germany reported an increase of 2.5% in its May beer sales, volumes of the first five months of the year grew 1.2% to 37.7 mln hl.
The exceptional warm weather during spring in Europe and the World Football Cup have a positive effect on beer sales in several countries, although they may also end abruptly with the elimination of any teams (like Germany, Spain, Poland) from beer-drinking countries.
In June production and transport capacities of many maltsters and brewers ran at maximum capacities, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported.
