USA, TX: Central Machine Works Brewery and Beer Hall coming to Govalle in spring of 2019
Govalle is getting a new brewery with the arrival of Central Machine Works Brewery and Beer Hall. The brewery takes its name from the industrial space’s former tenant, the Central Machine Works shop, found at 4824 East Cesar Chavez Street. The brewery is looking to open in spring of 2019, the Eater reported on October 29.
Central Machine promises “beers for the working man and woman,” which means a range of beers from American lagers, ales, and IPAs, as well as some international styles like kolsch, pilsners and English brown ales. There will also be seasonal beers and guest taps. The beers will be available on-site and for limited distribution, and the taproom will also have a full bar.
Central Machine’s historic space, which dates back to the 1940s when the workshop welded everything from airplane parts during World War II to custom fabrications to local businesses, will feature a beer garden with family-friendly areas, food trucks, and a stage for live music.
The brewery came about after a group of Austinites (who didn’t want to reveal their names) fell in love with the space. The brewery project has been in the works since 2016, according to an article by Tribeza, which lists commercial real estate firm Viceroy Realty Partners as being involved. According to an Instagram post, Kartwheel Studio is working on brewery’s interior design.
Central Machine’s neighboring breweries include the Brewer’s Table (right on the same block), Blue Owl Brewing, Hops & Grain Brewing, and Friends and Allies Brewing Company.
