USA, CA: Great Change Brewing launches in Bakersfield
Tucked away near the intersection of White Lane and Gosford, Great Change Brewing has officially opened its doors to the public in Bakersfield, KBAK/KBFX reported on January 7.
"We want to create an environment where people come down to just relax. This is a place that people can call their, their own Bakersfield craft brewery,” said Tim Belmont, one of the brewery’s co-owners.
Great Change has four inaugural beers on tap, with several more currently being developed.
The brewery has enlisted the help of award-winning Kern County brewer Kyle Smith, and is specifically focused on having a west coast inspired tap list.
"The west coast style is, you know, it's not complicated, it's simple. It's all about having balanced malt, balanced hot flavor and just big flavored beers,” Belmont said.
And those big flavors are already resonating with customers.
"I tried the pale ale, that was fantastic. The stout...really good,” said Gus Cristicini.
But as far as Belmont is concerned, Great Change's grand opening is just the first step, and he hopes that it can one day be a staple in the brewing world not just here in Bakersfield, but all around California
"This is going to be a production facility. So our idea is have this a production facility where we can expand, distribute, can, we're going to start canning as well."
