Myanmar: Carlsberg launches Black Eagle Stout in Myanmar
Brewery news

Carlsberg, the Copenhagen, Denmark-based beer maker, on February 26 launched Black Eagle Stout in Yangon, its first dark beer in Myanmar and the latest product in its portfolio of brands in the country, the Myanmar Times reported on March 1.

The new Black Eagle Stout contains 8.8 percent alcohol by volume, giving it a smooth bitter and sweet aftertaste, Carlsberg said.

“For Carlsberg Group, Myanmar is one of the prominent markets across the globe where many of our customers are enjoying our brands. We believe that Myanmar people deserved a better relaxation after a hardworking day to release stress, said Ted Liang, Marketing Director at Carlsberg Myanmar.

Black Eagle Stout will be available in the local market starting from March 1 in draught as well as 330ml cans and 500 ml cans.

It is the fourth beer brand in the Carlsberg Myanmar stable of products. The brewer currently brews and bottles Carlsberg, Yoma and Turborg beers in the country.

Carlsberg Myanmar, which is controlled by local tycoon U Thein Tun, who also publishes the Myanmar Times, first opened its US$100 million brewery in Bago Region, Yangon, in 2015. The brewery has the capacity to brew up to 600,000 hectolitres of beer annually.

Myanmar Beer is now the most dominant player in the local beer market. Carlsberg shares the rest of the market with Dutch brewer Heineken, Mandalay Beer and Dagon Beer.
