USA, LA: Istrouma Bière République to become Iberville Parish’s first brewery
Iberville Parish is set to have its first brewery, as Istrouma Bière République prepares to open soon in St. Gabriel, off Bayou Paul Road near La. 30, the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report said on June 27.
Brewers with Istrouma, which will specialize in small batches, will experiment with locally cultivated ingredients for their brews, according to its Facebook. The brewery is housed in a renovated barn, and features a tap room and outside patio with giant board games.
Among potential beers being developed is a peanut butter stout with marshmallows; a sour wheat ale with guava, passion fruit and mangoes; and a gose-style sour with juniper berries, lemongrass and lime.
An opening date has not been released, and representatives with Istrouma declined to comment.
Istrouma is one of several breweries looking to open in the Capital Region this year. Gilla Brewing Company is planning to open in Prairieville in September and Le Chien Brewing Company is working on opening in Denham Springs. Hiring is underway for Rally Cap Brewing, opening in the Industriaplex-area of Baton Rouge this summer, while the owners of Hammond-based Cypress Coast Brewing Co. are looking to open their first location for the brewery and taproom on Government Street in a strip center near the recently opened White Star Market and Soji.
