USA, AL: Construction of Southern Brewers Cooperative Brewpup to set to begin in January
They’re billing it as “four great Alabama breweries under one roof”, al.com reported on December 31.
Construction is set to begin on that project, Southern Brewers Cooperative Brewpup, in January at Stovehouse, the popular Huntsville food/entertainment complex that opened in 2019 at 3414 Governors Drive S.W.
Birmingham’s Good People Brewing and Avondale Brewing, Huntsville’s Straight to Ale, and Tuscaloosa’s Druid City Brewing are collaborating on the brewpub.
Recently, Straight to Ale and Druid City announced the former had acquired the latter.
Good People acquired Avondale in 2017.
The Co-Op Brewpub is planned to open summer 2020.
The 10,000-square-foot facility will make beer, spirits, and wine for onsite consumption.
In addition to brewpub fashioned suds, the location will offer its four collaborators' beers.
There will also be a kitchen onsite preparing made-from-scratch "American comfort food."
In a press release, Straight to Ale owner Dan Perry says, “The creativity coming from this group of brewers (and distillers) is going to result in some amazing new brews along with a new type of taproom experience.”
Good People/Avondale co-owner Michael Sellers adds he's looking forward to "what this collaboration can mean for our industry and communities."
The four brewpub collaborators will still operate at their individual, base locations too.
A Southern Brewers Cooperative's press release touts Good People and Straight to Ale as "Alabama's oldest and largest breweries."
