Philosophy and beer, it's the same thing: when consumed, they change all perceptions we have of the world.

USA, TX: Hound Song Brewing Co to become Colorado County’s first brewery
Brewery news

The iconic Harbert’s Garage, located at 535 Walnut St. in historic downtown Columbus, will provide a home for Colorado County’s first brewery and taproom. Hound Song Brewing Co, founded in late 2019 by county residents Travis, Raven, Dean, and Missy Kocurek, is beginning to take shape inside the historical building, the Colorado County Citizen reported on May 6.

The brewery will focus on producing a core lineup of low to moderate alcohol beers, traditionally brewed throughout Germany, The Czech Republic, and the United States. Aside from the core offerings, the brewery will tap seasonal and rotating small batch beers that align with the company’s mission to create balanced and flavorful beers to be enjoyed in a relaxing taproom environment together with family and friends.

Ronny Daley, owner of Harbert’s Garage, has worked for several years to restore the building and in January 2019 was awarded the Laura Ann Rau Preservation Award for his work to bring the historical building back to life. “Harbert’s Garage is an important part of Columbus’ history, and restoring this building has been an important goal for me. I am grateful for the work the City and local government has done to help make this a reality,” said Daley. “Downtown Columbus is a special place, and the addition of Hound Song Brewing Co will promote tourism and will attract additional small businesses to the area,” he added.

In light of challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hound Song Brewing Co is on target to open in early fall this year. In addition to producing distinct, small-batch beer on site, the brewery will house approximately 3,000 square feet of taproom and patio space where patrons will be welcome to relax and enjoy a fresh pint in the heart of beautiful downtown Columbus. In addition, the brewery will be kid and pet-friendly, will serve alcohol-free beverages, and will routinely have a food truck on site.
