Canada, BC: Red Bird Brewery gets approval for massive expansion project
Some exciting new plans are in store for the empty parking lot sitting beside Red Bird Brewery on Richter Street in Kelowna, the KelownaNow reported on October 6.
On October 5, Kelowna city council OK’d a development permit for a massive expansion and renovation proposed by the brewery.
Owners intend to expand the current building to a 100-person capacity indoor space complete with a full-service kitchen and on-site beer production facility.
With the remaining empty space beside the expanded building, plans call for a rooftop patio, turf bocce court, elevated music stage, dog run and 80 bicycle parking spaces.
While councillors unanimously approved the project, the brewery will have to return to City Hall at a later date to expand their liquor license.
There's no current timeline for when construction will be completed on the project.
