USA, FL: Woven Water Brewing Company opens in one of Tampa’s oldest neighborhoods
One of Tampa’s oldest building, in one of its oldest neighborhoods, just underwent a total makeover. Now, it's home to Woven Water Brewing Company, ABC Action News reported on November 16.
Located at 456 W Columbus Dr., a century ago the corner brewery was a corner drug store. In the past 100 years businesses have come and gone, and now two married couples have decided it’s their turn.
“This was an empty shell, there was nothing in here, we drafted our business plan off of Tampa Heights, we knew that this was the spot we wanted to be in,” said co-owner Jay Jones.
As word got out, there was a buzz around the neighborhood.
“They’ll say I’ve been driving by this building for 20 years, I’ve lived in this neighborhood for decades and I’ve just been waiting for something to come and make this space for us,” said co-owner Niki Childs.
It turns out the brewing and renovations were the easy part. Just a few months from their scheduled grand opening in June, the pandemic put their dreams on hold.
“It really taught us perseverance, we knew we were going to open and we just didn’t know how long it was going to take, and what it was going to take to get there, now that the game had changed,” said Childs.
Not sure what to expect when they finally opened their tasting room in October, they say the response was overwhelming.
“You saw everyone from the neighborhood, ‘oh I live two minutes away, oh I live right down the street, I live three blocks away.’ They were so excited and that was like a real Come to Jesus moment like, ‘oh we did it,’” said co-owner Ciara Jones.
The four of them each handle a different aspect of the business, but in the end the goal is always the same.
“I just wanted to put my stamp on something that I love which is beer with a fantastic group of people,” said co-owner Eric Childs.
