USA, OK: Lost Street Brewing Company launches in Durant
After two-and-a-half years of planning, Lost Street Brewing Company in Durant opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, May 26. It's a family hobby that turned into a family-owned business, KTEN reported.
The idea began when co-owner Scott Dewald was gifted a "make your own beer kit" from his kids.
The Dewald family has always enjoyed traveling and visiting breweries, and they thought: Why not bring one to Durant?
"We tried that first beer that we made, and we all got together to drink it and said, 'Hey, this is kinda good!'" Dewald recalled. "We love spending time together, we love spending time around the table, eating, and this is kind of just that next step in this whole process."
"Most kids aren't invited into bars," added family member and co-owner Grace Rudolf. "We're not a bar; we're a brewery. We want families here, we want kids here, we want pets here."
Drew Dewald, another co-owner, said Durant is full of awesome people.
"They've been trying to get in this whole time, and now it's awesome that today we're able to just say: 'Come on in, we're ready for you guys to see it!'" he said.
Lost Street Brewing Company, at 115 Lost Street, is open from 3-9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 3-10 p.m. on Friday, noon-10p.m. on Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday.
They will be open Memorial Day, but plan to be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
