Canada: Barley prices increase sharply on crop concerns and lack of offers
Canada’s barley prices are reported to have increased sharply, amid mounting crop concerns and lack of offers from farmers and trade, industry analysts said at the end of July.
According to local sources, 1-1.5 mln tonnes of barley have been shipped to China, but the quality of the commodity shipped is uncertain.
US corn and Dried Distillers Grain (DDGs) are already being imported into Western Canada to help offset the declining crop situation.
Lethbridge feed barley prices are sharply up too, industry sources reported.
