USA, WI: Lion’s Tail Brewing Co. looking to move to Wauwatosa
A new brewery could be coming to Wauwatosa soon, the Milwaukee Business Sentinel reported on September 1.
The Neenah-based Lion’s Tail Brewing Co. is looking to move into the former Wisconsin Garden and Pet Supply on North Avenue, which closed this summer.
If approved by the city, the brewery would take over 8520 W. North Ave., 8524 W. North Ave. and 2315 N. 85th St. through a land combination. The Wauwatosa Plan Commission will meet Sept. 13 and is expected to consider the land combination and proposal for the brewery.
According to documents filed with the city, the brewery plans to brew 1,000 to 2,500 barrels per year of "high-quality, small-batch craft beer in many different styles."
Plans for the brewery include several taprooms and "beer garden-style spaces where customers can enjoy our beers and malt beverages (hard seltzer) in an interesting yet relaxing environment," the proposal said.
The brewery plans to serve some food as well as provide food truck options for customers.
The brewery also plans to use the former building and the space between the brewery and taproom.
"We will have an outdoor beer garden with seating in the existing 'covered greenhouse' in front of the former garden center, as well as an uncovered area in front of the connecter concourse," the plans say.
It would also have packaged cans and bottles and plans to use the brewery to supply kegged beer to the Milwaukee area.
The business would take up 4,615 square feet of indoor space.
If approved, the taproom would open first in the initial few months after approval while construction for the brewery and production space takes place.
Hours for the taproom are proposed for 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Lion's Tail in Neenah has been in operation since 2015.
