Malaysia: Heineken Malaysia remains coy on any price hikes
Heineken Malaysia Bhd has remained coy on any price hikes for its products, preferring to say it will continue monitoring input costs to ensure it remains competitive, The Edge Markets reported on June 4.
Responding to a query from theedgemarkets.com on whether the company intends to revise prices, the brewer said it cannot comment on its plans, which are commercially sensitive.
“Should there be any price announcements, our distributors and customers will be the first to be informed.
“Nevertheless, in light of the current challenging environment and global supply chain uncertainties, we continue monitoring our input costs to ensure we remain competitive,” it said in a statement.
It was reported on Thursday (June 2), that Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd said it will increase the prices of some of its products from July 1 due to rising input costs.
In a document sighted by The Edge, Carlsberg said that despite its cost-mitigation efforts, the group had to “adjust” the prices of the products because of the increasing input costs worsened by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
