USA, OH: MadTree Brewing announces plans to open third location in Blue Ash
Brewery news

One of Cincinnati’s biggest breweries may soon take root in Blue Ash. MadTree Brewing says the city council is set to vote on plans that would allow them to open a MadTree location in Summit Park, the Cincinnati CityBeat reported on June 7.

MadTree Parks & Rec would be the company’s third brewery/restaurant location. The team says they plan to continue their creative and sustainable traditions of taking an old space and repurposing it. In this case, the team would convert a 15,000 square-foot airplane hangar into an outdoor recreation destination, tying into the park’s green space and offering things like cornhole, plenty of seating outside and walking trails. The taproom would have indoor and outdoor areas, private rental space and cocktails, food and, of course, MadTree's specially crafted beer because, in the words of the great Ron Swanson, "Clear alcohols are for rich women on diets."

“This is a fantastic opportunity as it checks so many boxes for us like being an extension of an already fantastic park system, centrally located, and bringing a building back to life,” Brady Duncan, MadTree co-founder, said in a press release. “We love that people will be able to spend the whole day enjoying fun activities along with food and drinks with friends and family.”

The City of Blue Ash says it had been looking for a unique group to repurpose the hangar space.

“The MadTree brand and the company’s purpose is the perfect match for Summit Park. Their leadership has been very successful in not only redeveloping existing spaces, but also in enhancing the community through a commitment to the environment and local well-being,” Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Director Brian Kruse said in the release.

The brewery says in redeveloping the space, they would be committed to meeting LEED Gold certification standards and would also be partnering with the parks department to support and maintain Summit Park’s sustainability efforts.

The council vote on June 13 would finalize MadTree’s plans by allowing the city manager to enter into a lease with the brewery.
