USA, PA: Cox Brewing announces closure by end of 2023
After 8+ years, Elizabethtown’s Cox Brewing has announced its closing by the end of 2023. The brewery announced in a social media post that “with the rising cost of goods and services coupled with a 2024 military deployment, it’s time to let go”, Breweries in PA reported on October 12.
The veteran-owned brewery originally opened in 2015 by the team of Nick Cox (Brewmaster/ Owner) and Tim Kreider (Head Brewer/Owner). The two grew up as childhood friends before going into the military. Nick and Tim began homebrewing in 2006 and less than 10 years later would go on to bring Cox Brewing to life.
Five years after initially opening, Cox would expanded to the village of Rheems with their “Rally Point” Taproom. A large space that was military themed featuring a wide variety of beer, 20-foot bar, dedicated stage for live music, bunker, and outdoor patio. They closed their original location with the focus on this new, expanded taproom. However, earlier this year, the brewery had also announced the closure of that space and returned back to the original garage location.
