Brazil: Retail beer prices remain stable in February
According to data published by Brazil’s National Institute of Statistics (IBGE), beer registered a deflation of 0.02 percent, while, in bars and restaurants, beer presented an inflation of 0.5 percent, Freshlybottled.com reported on March 26.
The average price adjustment index for beer in retail and bars in February was below the Consumer Price Index (IPCA), as well as in the food and beverage group, with a positive variation of 0.95 percent.
With other alcoholic beverages, however, the behavior was exactly the opposite: inflation of 1.06 percent at home and deflation of 1.06 percent outside the home. In the first two months of 2024, beer inflation in the country was 0.25 percent, while outside the home it was 0.84 percent. Other alcoholic beverages increased by 3.35 percent at home and 0.07 percent outside the home.
During the period from March 2023 to February 2024, beer at home accumulated an increase of 3.74 percent, below the 4.63 percent observed for the product outside the home.
