USA, GA: Southern Brewing Company temporarily halts production
Southern Brewing Company has temporarily halted beer production and let go some of its staff, it announced on July 26 in a now-deleted Instagram post, Online Athens reported.
The company's taprooms in Athens and Monroe will remain open while they "figure things out," the post read.
"We appreciate the community's support over the past 10 years and we are hopeful that this will be sorted soon. Please come show our bartenders some love as we navigate this difficult situation."
An email from Southern Brewing VP of sales and marketing Steven Brand says the plan is to not shut down the breweries, but recent legal issues between a couple of the owners has caused recent layoffs. It remains to be seen if it closes its doors for good after the beer runs out in the taprooms.
Southern Brewing opened in 2015 at 231 Collins Industrial Blvd and serves such beers as the Hobnail Boot IPA, Fog Machine Hazy IPA, 7 A.M. lager and Shock Wave Sour.
