USA, FL: Buffalo’s Resurgence Brewing Company to open new location in Fort Myers
A popular Buffalo, New York, brewery is making its way to south Fort Myers.
Resurgence Brewing Company will be at 6150 Exchange Lane, near the intersection of Michael G. Rippe and Six Mile Cypress parkways, south of the Lee Health Sports Complex.
Fort Myers-based Seagate Development Group broke ground recently on the 25,000-square-foot brewpub and restaurant.
“We love Fort Myers and wanted to bring the Resurgence Brewing Company experience to Southwest Florida,” Jeff Ware, Resurgence founder and owner, said in a news release. “We are looking forward to joining the thriving craft brewing community in Fort Myers.”
Jeff and his wife Erin first opened Resurgence Brewing Company (RBC) in 2014 in Buffalo after realizing the city had no beer gardens like the ones they frequented in New York City.
According to its website, Resurgence brews nearly 5,000 gallons of high-quality unique and experimental beer weekly. Think Sponge Candy Stout (made with excess cuttings of Watson’s Chocolate’s beloved sponge candy), Loganberry Wit and Cosmic Truth — a mosaic hopped session ale.
Food-wise, RBC’s offerings include pretzels, nachos, handhelds (like fried chicken, short ribs and Chicago street burger), salads, wings, mac & cheese and rice bowl.
But wait, there’s more coming. Not only will there be a brewery, full bar and restaurant, but a rock-climbing facility — Central Rock Gym — will be built next to it all.
“This will be a fitness-oriented facility,” Garrett Schwier, general manager of Worcester, Massachusetts-based gym, said in a news release. “Climbing is a social sport. We are looking forward to growing the climbing community in Fort Myers.”
It will feature 45-foot-tall walls for lead and top rope climbing, 5,000 square feet of bouldering and a total of 20,000 square feet of climbing terrain. After first opening 15 years ago, Central Rock Gym has 28 locations in six states. The south Fort Myers one will be the largest in the Sunshine State. In addition to climbing, Central Rock features youth programs, member events, meetups, competitions and fundraising events.
“We are honored to partner with Resurgence Brewing Company and Central Rock Gym on this exciting new venture to Fort Myers,” Matt Price, CEO of Seagate Development Group, said in a news release. “This project embodies our commitment to creating dynamic and engaging spaces that enhance the community.”
With construction expected to commence in October, look for an end-of-summer 2025 opening.
