USA, AZ: Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company opening new brewery in Phoenix
Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company is opening a new location, The Arizona Republic reported on September 26.
In an Instagram reel dated Sept. 25, founder Jonathan Buford and brewmaster Patrick Ware took followers on a tour of the new brewery that's currently under construction.
"This was a rundown building to say the least," Buford said. "We are proud to have a bar in. It's a big U-shaped bar." As they showed where the kitchen would be, Buford added: "I feel like with our 11 years of experience, this is our best menu yet."
The new building, which Arizona Wilderness owns, is on Miracle Mile, a stretch of McDowell between Seventh Street and State Route 51.
The Miracle Mile used to be a pedestrian-friendly area for shopping and dining in the 1940s and '50s. As Phoenix expanded, so did the road. As the shops lost their parking spaces, the shopowners vacated around the 1980s. According to the McDowell Miracle Mile website, between years 2000 and 2014, the area saw a slow resurgence. However, the ultimate goal is to make The Miracle Mile safer. The City of Phoenix plans to add make it safer for pedestrians and biking, add more transit, make access to businesses easier.
According to Ware, there will be tours, private events and dance parties at the revitalized brewery space
The kitchen is smaller than the downtown kitchen, which means they will offer a paired down menu of "tasty bites."
"This project means a lot to us," Buford said. "We are just tickled to be here."
Expected opening: Spring 2025.
Details: 1418 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix.
