USA, TX: Neches Brewing Company to close at the end of the month
Neches Brewing Company will be closing at the end of the month, MSN reported on December 19.
After eight years of "celebrating beer and making memories" Neches Brewing Company will close for good on Dec. 31, Neches Brewing Company announced on Facebook Wednesday morning.
Mug Club members have been unsubscribed and are asked to come take their mugs home, Neches Brewing Company announced.
"We’d like to thank everyone who came through our doors and we hope our little brewery was something that made you feel at home. Cheers!" Neches Brewing Company said in their announcement.
The announcement comes after a former employee of the brewery, which is Southeast Texas' first, in September started a GoFundMe page in the hopes that the establishment would be able to remain open.
Despite raising more than its goal, the brewery will still close.
Neches Brewing Company owner Tyler Blount previously told the Enterprise that they had been experiencing a downturn in business amid rising costs that was eating away at the brewery's bottom line. He declined to speak further on Wednesday.
“Nobody’s going to pay $10 for a beer,” he previously told the Enterprise, but that’s almost what he would need to charge to keep expenses from handily outweighing revenue.
Blount previously intended to expand the brewery in Port Neches and add a distribution site in the home of the former Pour Brothers Brewery in Beaumont.
